Cecilia Riera


Before joining the Bronx Defenders, Cecilia Riera was the Program Coordinator for the Unaccompanied Minors Program at Catholic Charities Community Services, where she provided support services to immigrant children detained in federal custody pending their reunification with appropriate adult sponsors or transfer to long-term foster care. Cecilia also coordinated the Legal Orientation Program for Custodians (LOPC), helping new and potential sponsors understand their roles and the immigration court process. Cecilia received her Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Monroe College and is currently working toward her Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health. She is fluent in Spanish.
