Kate Rubin to speak at Jon Jay panel on community consequences of incarceration


On Thursday, March 5, 2015, John Jay College of Criminal Justice will be hosting the fifth installment of the 2014-15 PRI Occasional Series on Reentry Research, highlighting issues raised by the National Academy of Sciences’ groundbreaking report, “The Growth of Incarceration in the United States: Causes and Consequences.”

Bronx Defenders Managing Director of the Civil Action Practice Kate Rubin will join a panel of featured speakers at the event. Dr. Todd Clear, Provost Rutgers University-Newark, is the keynote speaker and will be presenting his recent research “Predicting Crime Through Incarceration: The Impact of Rates of Prison Cycling on Rates of Crime in Communities.” Other featured speakers include the Executive Director/Founder and CEO of Exodus Transitional Community, Inc. Julio Medina and Council Member Jumaane D. Williams of the 45th Council District in Brooklyn. In addition  to remarks by each featured speaker, the day will include a moderated panel discussion and audience Q & A.
