Vanessa Godinez (she/her/hers) received her J.D. in 2018 from the University of California Berkeley School of Law. She is a recipient of the Francine Diaz Award for her work as a woman of color in the field of social justice and public interest. During law school, Vanessa assisted clients seeking affirmative asylum through the California Asylum Representation Clinic. She was also a member of the Death Penalty clinic where she worked on behalf of a client on death row. Vanessa spent her summer internships at the Contra Costa County Public Defender’s Office and Pangea Legal Services. She holds a B.A. in Legal Studies and a B.A. in Literature from the University of California Santa Cruz. Vanessa is a native Spanish speaker and is working on improving her French.
