Simmi Kaur is from Punjab, India via Queens, NY. She graduated from CUNY Hunter College in 2013 and from Harvard Law School in 2017. At HLS, she was the President of Harvard Defenders, a student organization that represents indigent clients, mostly of color, in criminal show-cause hearings. She was also a Vice President of and student attorney at the Harvard Legal Aid Bureau, representing indigent clients in family, housing (eviction defense), SIJS and unemployment cases. During her law school summers, she worked on criminal & racial injustice issues with the New York Civil Liberties Union, Equal Justice Under Law and ArchCity Defenders.
