Samantha Cohen joined The Bronx Defenders in August of 2016, bringing with her nearly two decades of non-profit leadership and fundraising experience. Before joining The Bronx Defenders, Samantha served as the Director of Development at the New York Civil Liberties Union (NYCLU) where she managed fundraising, development operations and initiated the quiet phase of an $80 million comprehensive campaign. Prior to her tenure at the NYCLU, she served as the Associate Director of Leadership Gifts at the American Civil Liberties Union National Office and as a Principal Consultant for Blackbaud, Inc. where she delivered comprehensive fundraising consulting to national and international non-profit organizations.
With a life-long passion for the performing arts, Samantha has secured annual donations and major gifts for the Kentucky Opera, the National Ballet School of Canada, and the Toronto Symphony Orchestra. Raised in Canada, Samantha holds a B.A. (Hons) from McMaster University and a Certificate in Income Management from the Cultural Centre at the University of Waterloo.
