Muriel received her MSW from Columbia University in May 2016, and she has been working in the field of forensic social work for the past year. As an intern at the Federal Defenders of New York, she gathered knowledge about clients through interviews and investigation in order to develop and present mitigation. At FDNY, Muriel also started a project to educate clients and attorneys on local New York City laws related to employment of people with felony convictions, the final product being an extensive list of potential employers for clients. Before entering graduate school, Muriel worked as Community Support Staff at Howard Center Developmental Services in Burlington, Vermont where she supported clients with multiple developmental diagnoses and aided in the development of independent living and social skills. Muriel earned her BSW from the University of Vermont where she received the Student Leadership Award.
