Michelle Harris

Michelle, a Bronx native, earned her MSW from Lehman College in 2017, where she was also a recipient of the HRSA (Health Research & Services Administration) award for her high scholastic achievement, and focus on youth development and advocacy. While earning her degree, she interned at the Bronx Bridges High School, where her primary focus was providing behavioral and academic counseling to ELL (English Language Leaners) 10th grade students. Later, she interned at the Family Defense Practice at The Bronx Defenders, advocating on behalf of parents regarding child to family reunification. Prior to her graduate studies, Michelle was a graduate of the John Jay College of Criminal Justice, where she majored in Political Science with a concentration in Law, Court and Politics, and a minor in Psychology. During this time, she had the opportunity to serve as a Legislative Liaison intern to former City Council member Gale Brewer, assisting in and advocating for affordable housing, health and workers’ compensation benefits for constituents of District 6 in New York City.
