Mariam received her J.D. from Syracuse University College of Law. While in law school, she was a Syracuse Public Interest Network Fellow, Treasurer of the Black Law Students Association and Associate Editor of the Syrian Accountability Project. Additionally, she was a student attorney in the Criminal Defense Clinic. During her first summer of law school, Mariam interned with Reprieve, an international human rights organization based in London, and was awarded a Chief Judge Janet DiFiore Catalyst Public Service Fellowship for her internship with the Legal Aid Society in their Parole Revocation Defense Unit during her second summer. Mariam received her undergraduate degree from Virginia State University.
