EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES

Current Open Positions:

Parent Advocate, Family Defense Practice

The Bronx Defenders accepts applications year-round from experienced criminal defense and family court lawyers interested in joining us.

New attorneys join Bronx Defenders' Family and Criminal Defense training classes starting each fall. We take applications for the following year's training classes from August through Mid-October. We are no longer accepting applications for the 2010-2011 training class.

Law interns are hired in the fall for the following summer. We are no longer accepting applications for second year law students. First year law students should submit a cover letter and resume by February 5th. All materials should be sent via email to Seann Riley, seannr@bronxdefenders.org. Please clearly indicate what practice you are applying for in the subject line.

Other Internships: The Bronx Defenders also seeks out undergraduate and graduate interns on an as-needed basis to help with a variety of projects, from research to voter outreach to our youth programs. Interested applicants should look for our postings on www.idealist.org.  We generally take summer intern applications from September through the end of November.

Each year, students participating in the Community Arts Exchange celebrate their year of learning, reading, and creating by working together on a large mural with a local artist.
By reaching out to the Bronx Community, The Bronx Defenders redefines the expanding role of the Public Defender.
Through the Parent Liaison Institute, community residents and Bronx college students learn to serve as lay advocates for families in their own community who are involved in the child welfare and Family Court systems.
On Election Day, the Voter Enfranchisement Project sends monitors to South Bronx polling sites in collaboration with several other concerned community groups. These trained community volunteers, law students, and lawyers assist voters in casting meaningful ballots at the polls and documenting any problems they encounter.
